I am a retired police officer, having dedicated 36 years to serving the public in West Yorkshire and my natural concerns are for home security, road safety and anti-social behaviour. I have actively campaigned on local issues, such as the Children’s Centre and Children’s free bus travel. My aims are to preserve the separate village atmospheres; ensure any development is sustainable, proportional and appropriate; and to do my very best to promote and protect the interests of Burley and Menston.
I have lived in Burley in Wharfedale since 2004 and served on the Parish Council since May 2019 and chair the 1224 Air Cadets Civilian Committee. I live with my partner Lisa, have 2 sons and a daughter.
I have previously worked as a Systems Developer, Sales Director and have worked for several Marketing PLC’s. I now run a small IT company who specialise in web, full-stack and cyber security solutions.
For those who don’t yet know me, I’m here to raise the bar for our local communities. Happy to chat when available to discuss any local issues or concerns that you wish me to raise or pursue in council.
I have lived in Menston since 1940. I served on Ilkley UDC between 1963-74 and on Bradford Council between 1974-80 and also from 1988-today. I have held most responsible posts on both bodies. I am passionate about Education, Inequalities Gaps, Disabilities and Wharfedale Ward. I am married to Margaret and we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I am Chairman and Motorman at Shipley Glen Tramway.
Philip Davies MP
I was elected the Conservative Member of Parliament for Shipley in 2005 with a majority of 422 and was re-elected in 2010 with a majority of 9,944. Before being elected, I worked for Asda for 12 years, working my way up to be a Senior Marketing Manager. I live in Shipley.
I became the first MP to publicly call for Britain to withdraw from the EU and I am a member of the ‘Better Off Out’ campaign. I am also the Parliamentary Spokesman for the Campaign Against Political Correctness and I have twice won an award at the Spectator Parliamentary Awards .
