I am a retired police officer, having dedicated 36 years to serving the public in West Yorkshire and my natural concerns are for home security, road safety and anti-social behaviour. I have actively campaigned on local issues, such as the Children’s Centre and Children’s free bus travel. My aims are to preserve the separate village atmospheres; ensure any development is sustainable, proportional and appropriate; and to do my very best to promote and protect the interests of Burley and Menston.
I have lived in Menston since 1940. I served on Ilkley UDC between 1963-74 and on Bradford Council between 1974-80 and also from 1988-today. I have held most responsible posts on both bodies. I am passionate about Education, Inequalities Gaps, Disabilities and Wharfedale Ward. I am married to Margaret and we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I am Chairman and Motorman at Shipley Glen Tramway.
I have lived in Burley in Wharfedale since 1987. I have served on Bradford Council since November 2012. I currently sit on The Regulatory and Appeals Committee for large planning applications and I am the Conservative Shadow Spokesperson for Adult Services. I am married to Geoff with 1 daughter, Cecily, who is at University. I have previously been a Civil Servant , a Disability Rights Worker, a Careers Adviser for Leeds City Council and Leeds University and currently runs Strulch Limited – an eco-friendly mulch supplier.
